PCLinuxOS is a popular Linux distribution developed by Texstar. It is a variant on Mandriva Linux, though it incorporates the Advanced Packaging Tool more commonly found in Debian-based distributions (while keeping the RPM package format.) Like Ubuntu it boasts no command-line needed for basic installation and setup. PCLinuxOS is one of the few distributions able to play most media straight from installation.

Marketed toward Windows users, PCLinuxOS offers a clean layout, using the KDE manager. Graphics drivers for most ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards can be installed using apt from the PCLinuxOS package repositories. PCLOS uses Synaptic Package Manager as a frontend, making it easy to get the most out of the hardware. PcLinuxOS has a feature to 'add a new network device', this is available on the control panel and allows the user to specify a Windows Driver. This is an automated version of ndiswrapper, this makes installing hardware just as easy, if not easier than Windows.

PCLOS also includes an control center, akin to the control panel on the Windows operating system. From the control center, the user can set up a web server, file sharing, hardware configuration, mount points, internet configuration, security, and general system settings, all through interactive wizards, enabling a user to fully administrate his or her computer without having to use the command-line interface.
