This how-to is about: Intel, 3945ABG PRO/Wireless

What you need to know to use this how-to: The Terminal, apt-get

Newer HP Laptops (and other Intel based systems) use the chip Intel 3945ABG PRO/Wireless in their wireless adapters. In order to get these working, you may follow this procedure: 

apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi

Then, reboot your computer.
