Graphical User Interface
From TheLinuxVault
A Graphical User Interface provides a means of interacting with a computer by pointing at graphical representations (images) of objects (such as windows, menus and icons) on a screen. It is usually easier for humans to understand such a metaphorical model than what is really going on inside a computer.
The usual alternative which is available on most computer operating systems is the command line which requires a far more specific knowledge of computer language(s).
